Inspection Services
As we have a high level understanding of the mechanical processes, materials, regulatory and code requirements, and the potential failure mechanisms, we know where to look for problems and, most importantly, we know how to develop the repair procedures to make your equipment fit for service again.
We inspect boilers – large and small – and all other kinds of pressure equipment. We inspect storage tanks of all sizes, as well as coatings and linings. With our QA/QC group, we can also act as your Owner’s Inspector to monitor your shop fabrication, coatings, construction and the most complicated repair and alteration projects.
Our boiler inspection team has extensive operations knowledge and can troubleshoot almost any boiler issue to bring the boiler back into smooth trouble-free operation.
- Pressure Vessel and Piping Inspections
- Boiler Inspections
- Coatings and Linings Inspections
- Storage Tank Inspections
- In-service external and internal inspections – inspectors certified to API 653
- Re-commissioning inspection
- Capable of inspecting small and large diameter tanks
- Magnetic Flux Leakage tank floor scans
- Ultrasonic testing tank crawler
- 3D laser scanning:
- Out-of-roundness surveys
- Level and settlement surveys
- Strapping
- As-built models and drawings
- Finite Element Analysis
- Fitness-for-Service assessments (API 579)
- Tank volume calibration and vacuum box testing

3D Laser Scanning:
Our experienced engineering team leverages the “point cloud” data captured from pressure equipment and storage tanks to produce geometrically accurate 3D models. These models can be further assessed using FEA (Finite Element Analysis) software, such as SOLIDWORKS Simulations and CAESAR II. The assessments can then be used for failure analysis, fitness-for-service, design modifications, repair procedures, baseline inspections, as-built drawings, asset inventory and more.
Advantages of laser scanning
The data collected from a 3D laser scan can be used to calculate tank plumpness, “out-of-roundness,” settlement, and other situations requiring detailed measurements. Data can be evaluated or re-evaluated after the scan technician has left the tank site, and can also be evaluated for other purposes without an additional site visit or an additional round of measurements. The 3D scanning software applications support the production of strapping and calibration charts in real time, thereby eliminating delays in tank assessment. In addition, software enhancements are expected to provide accurate floor mapping and exact patch locations, a significant improvement over current manual mapping methods.
